Dosbarth Mrs Treadwell

Welcome to Class 2!

A very warm welcome to Class 2! I hope you all had a wonderful summer break and are ready for an exciting year of learning and fun.

I am delighted to be teaching your children this year. We have lots of exciting activities planned and I am looking forward to getting to know every child and helping them to achieve their very best.  I would also like to say how incredibly proud I am of the children for the way they have started the new school year. They have settled into Class 2 really well, showing enthusiasm, kindness and a positive attitude towards their learning. It has been wonderful to see them making new friendships, developing their independence and embracing new challenges. We are already having lots of fun and are very excited for the year ahead!

Our topic this term is:  Power

How can power change the world around us?

Throughout the term, the children will explore different types of power and think about how people, nature, ideas and communities can influence and change the world. We will be linking our learning across a range of subjects to make our topic engaging, meaningful and memorable.

Our Class Expectations

At Coychurch Primary School, we encourage all children to be:

Ready to learn
Respectful to others
Safe in everything they do

These expectations help us create a positive classroom where everyone feels happy, valued and able to learn.

PE Days

Our PE lessons will take place on:

Wednesday and Thursday

Children are welcome to come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. Please ensure that they have suitable clothing and footwear for both indoor and outdoor activities.

Reading

Reading is one of the most important things your child can do to support their learning.

Children should bring their:

📚 Reading book
📖 Reading record

to school every day.

We encourage all children to read at home every evening if possible, either independently or with an adult, older sibling or family member. Even a few minutes of reading each day can make a huge difference to their confidence and progress.

Phonics

Phonics continues to play a vital role in helping children become successful readers and writers.

Year 1 children will continue to develop their phonics knowledge, learning new sounds and practising how to blend and segment words confidently.

Year 2 children will build upon their phonics skills, improving their fluency, accuracy and spelling patterns, whilst continuing to use their phonics knowledge to support reading and writing across the curriculum.

Regular reading and phonics practice at home will greatly support your child's progress.

Homework and Online Learning

To further support learning at home, homework and additional activities can be accessed through:

💻 Hwb
💻 Purple Mash
💻 Active Learn
💻 Seesaw

These platforms provide opportunities for children to practise and extend the skills they are learning in school. We encourage children to log in regularly and complete any activities that are set.

Working Together

Communication between home and school is incredibly important. If you have any questions, concerns or information that you would like to share, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you for your support. I am looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growth and success with Class 2.

Kind regards,

Mrs Treadwell
